Rustam Kasimdzhanov: Born in 1979 in Uzbekistan. For many years he was known merely as a very strong and imaginative player until in 2004 he shocked the chess world by winning the FIDE world chess championship title, beating a string of world-class players including Ivanchuk, Grischuk, Topalov and Adams in the process. He is now firmly established in the world’s elite.
